    Due to expected changes in Italy Visa Application Fees, visa applications  and Legalization documents will not be accepted on 24 December 2018, 27 December 2018 and 28 December 2018. Visa application /Legalization documents acceptance will proceed as usual from 31 December 2018 onwards. The above decision is made on instructions received from the Italian Embassy in Colombo.

    Long Stay Study Visa

    Italy Long stay Study Visa applications will not be accepted until 23 April 2018. The applicants should obtain a prior appointment after 23 April 2018 in order to submit the applications.

    Legalization

    Due to expected changes to Italy Legalization Fees, the Legalization documents will not be accepted on 29 March 2018 /30 March 2018 and 03 April 2018. The above decision is made on instructions received from the Italian Embassy in Colombo. All the applicants are requested to reschedule the appointments for the next available date.

    Due to expected changes in Italy Visa Application Fees, visa applications will not be accepted on 27 December 2017, 28 December 2017 and 29 December 2017. Visa application acceptance will proceed as usual from 02 January 2018 onwards. Legalization document acceptance will not be impacted and will continue with submission acceptance as usual. The above decision is made on instructions received from the Italian Embassy in Colombo.

    Italy Legalization documents will not be accepted on 14 November 2017 and 15 November 2017.Applicants can submit their documents on 16 November 2017 onwards.

    The visa section of the Italy Embassy will remain closed on 13 and 14 November 2017. The Italy Visa Application centre in Colombo will also remain closed on the above mentioned dates for visa application submissions. Applicants can submit their documents for legalization on these days as usual.

    Update from The Embassy of Italy

    As confirmed by Italy Embassy, VFS will accept Schengen Visa applications till 27 October 2015. No Schengen visa Applications will be accepted on 28 October 2015, 29 October 2015 and 30 October 2015.

    From 02 November 2015, VFS will accept Schengen Visa applications and all applicants will have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints)

    Important Notice: New application procedures from 02 November 2015

    All diplomatic and consular Schengen missions in India will introduce Visa Information System (VIS) on 02 November 2015. This System enables better data exchange between all Schengen member states. VIS eases application procedures and improves security. Since 2011 VIS is already established in most of 23 regions worldwide. By the end of 2015 all visa sections of Schengen countries worldwide will be equipped with VIS.

    With effect from 16 June 2014, The Embassy of Italy in Sri Lanka has designated the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to conduct verification of document integrity and authenticity of Sri Lankan nationals, applying for family reunion visas to Italy, to facilitate their safe and legal migration to Italy.

    Document Submission Time: from 09:30 to 13:00 Monday to Thursday (excluding public holidays).Applicants can call for an appointment OR walk in during the above mentioned hours.

    The IOM will charge a non-refundable service fee and the mandatory government charges for the conduct of verification of document integrity and authenticity of Sri Lankan nationals.

    The Embassy of Italy informs all applicants that the verification of document integrity and authenticity is a necessary requirement of the visa issuance process and that their failure to comply with the instructions of IOM may lead to rejection of the application.

    We request all applicants not to bring along any other interested parties, family or friends to the visa application centre and avoid loitering in the premises due to security concerns
